Over 6,000 China‑Europe and China‑Central Asia Trains Pass Through Khorgos

Urumqi, August 23 (Reporter Shang Rongzheng) — Recently, a China‑Europe freight train loaded with machinery equipment, auto parts and home‑appliance products departed from the Khorgos railway port in Xinjiang. So far this year, the number of China‑Europe and China‑Central Asia trains passing through Khorgos railway port has exceeded 6,000, with cargo throughput topping 10 million tons.

To ensure the efficient operation of freight trains, Khorgos Customs has worked closely with railway authorities. Relying on the “smart railway port + rapid clearance at local sites” model, real‑time data sharing between customs and railway departments has been realized. With technical tools such as intelligent image inspection and advance machine‑based examination, arriving trains can be inspected and released promptly, lifting the overall customs‑clearance efficiency by more than 50%.

Up to now, 91 routes of China‑Europe and China‑Central Asia trains run via Khorgos railway port, reaching 18 countries and regions and transporting over 200 types of goods. The total number of such trains passing through Alashankou and Khorgos railway ports in Xinjiang has surpassed 11,000, representing a year‑on‑year increase of 5.9%.
